The firm
AP Capital is a Mozambican private investment and project-development company. We hold long-term positions in operating businesses and sponsor projects in sectors where local knowledge determines whether something can actually be built.
AP Capital, Limitada was established in Maputo in 2007 and has operated from the same market since. It is a Mozambican company, directed from Mozambique, with an office in Dubai that carries international capital-markets representation.
Positions are taken with the intention of holding them. Value comes from moving an asset or a project from an early position to an operating one, alongside partners who bring capability the firm does not hold itself.
Where AP Capital sponsors a project it carries the development cost at its own risk. Where it invests, it does so as a shareholder with a long-term interest.
Mozambique's strategic sectors need three things at once: access to the market and its institutions, technical capability at international standard, and capital. We hold the first. We partner for the second and third.
A gas-to-power station needs an experienced independent power producer. A regasification terminal needs an operator with a fleet. A powered data-centre campus needs an operator with tenants already committed. AP Capital originates the opportunity, secures its position and brings in the party able to execute it, retaining a long-term interest in the result.
Two activities sit alongside each other. Investment means holding positions in operating businesses across our four sectors. Project sponsorship means originating a development, funding early work, assembling the partners and carrying it toward commercial structuring.
Projects are structured separately from one another. Each is financed on its own merits, with its own partners and its own approvals, so that no project carries the risk of another.
Investment and project decisions are taken by the firm's three co-founders. Where a principal holds an interest in a counterparty, that interest is disclosed and the decision is taken by those without it.
